sibot x okmalumkoolkat - "Nice Shandees" [VIDEO]

The message in clear: it is good to be the king.

Dressed in garb befitting royalty - and the taste which accompanies status ("Painting like a Basquiat / Crown me a champion") - the de facto appears capable of leading both an army and an Arkestra. Clad in all black, his forces are ruthless. Neath the images of Nelson Mandela, complex geometry, and to what appears to be a diamond and a deer. the dancefloor is left replete with casualties.

Except not quite in the most literal of terms.

At first the the pairing seems unlikely. What might aristocracy have much in common with a "dancefloor terrorist?" Alas, further research indicates otherwise. Despite the video for "Nice Shandees" having been released yesterday, the song is far from new. After all, the track was a staple feature on Red Bull Capetown's "Arc Eyes [EP]" last year. And while not immediately new, the song has staying power for good reason. The beat - care of bass savant and Mad Decent affiliate Sibot (sigh-bought) - is simple but ruthless: a steady dose of hi-hat and the boom-bap of kick/snare. Claps appear in the chorus, synths and bass play a major role too. What follows, however, is a certifiable banger and is meant to be enjoyed not dissected. On the vocal front, Okmalumkoolkat slays listeners with his amalgamated kwaito/rap/grime delivery; and attentive viewers might even notice a dance not unlike the Shmoney dance.

Once again, it must be so, so very good to be king.
